Before founding RIS, the core members of the engineering and marketing teams were responsible for designing inkjet automation solutions and retail photo-finishing systems. The result of this technical expertise and business acumen is the industry’s leading inkjet refilling team.

 

herb.jpgHerb Sarnoff CEO/Founder and Board Chairman - Mr. Sarnoff has led RIS through all stages of legal formation, angel and VC fundraising, equipment concept and design, supply chain development, retail channel business development, and product commercialization and operations. Prior to RIS, Mr. Sarnoff was the Supply Chain Manager and a founding member at Phogenix Imaging (an HP-Kodak Joint Venture), developing large-scale inkjet photofinishing kiosks designed for mass retail. He spent the first ten years of his career at Hewlett Packard where he held various engineering, supply chain, and project management positions in both R&D and Manufacturing of inkjet printers and cartridges. Mr. Sarnoff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego and an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.

 

jason.jpgJason Guhse - V.P. of Engineering (co-founder) - Mr. Guhse has been responsible for leading the development of the RIS refilling technology from its inception. Prior to joining RIS, Mr. Guhse spent 10 years working in Hewlett Packard's inkjet supplies business, in both manufacturing development and R&D capacities. During his tenure, he developed the processes and automation used for filling inkjet products across a wide range of manufacturing environments, from semi-manual machines which produced R&D prototypes to high speed systems for full scale production. Mr.Guhse holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo and a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University.

 

mike.jpgMike Stanicek - Chief Marketing Officer - Mr. Stanicek joined RIS in 2007 as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer bringing 24 years of inkjet marketing and operations experience to RIS. Prior to RIS, he was the Co-General Manager for Kodak’s Encad Wide Format Inkjet Division and was responsible for the P&L of the organization. Prior to Encad, he served as Senior Marketing Director at Phogenix Imaging, a joint venture formed by Kodak and Hewlett Packard to develop large-scale inkjet photofinishing kiosks designed for mass retail. As a founding member, he was responsible for all aspects of the marketing mix and strategic planning. Prior to Phogenix he held numerous management positions during his 16-year tenure at Hewlett Packard which included the position of Commercial Solutions Manager, where he managed a marketing department responsible for commercial inkjet supplies. Mr. Stanicek received his Bachelor of Science degree in Management, Production/Operations from San Diego State University.

 

greg.jpgGreg Bohdan - Chief Financial Officer – An experienced high-tech entrepreneur, Mr. Bohdan has 17 years of operating experience starting, financing and building successful venture-backed, high-growth companies and has co-founded two of these. Mr. Bohdan was the second hire at Ensemble Communications and helped grow the company globally to more than 270 employees. He has raised over $200M of venture and strategic financing, worked with Wall Street to position companies for IPO's and managed public company SEC compliance. Mr. Bohdan has provided CFO services to numerous tech companies in Southern California including Anonymizer, ClarIDy Solutions, CardLogix, PetriTech, Nirvanix and Zoovy. He sits on the board of the San Diego Venture Group. Mr. Bohdan holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

 

javier.jpgJavier Lara - Vice President of Operations – Mr. Lara joined the organization in 2007 and is responsible for the organization’s Contract Manufacturing, Customer Service and Support, Consumables Management and Procurement. Prior to joining RIS, Mr. Lara served as a Senior Operations Manager for the Eastman Kodak Company. In this role, he provided strategic and tactical direction for the organization’s wide-format Inkjet group. Prior to Eastman Kodak, Mr. Lara held various senior level positions with Encad Inc. and The Upper Deck Company. Mr. Lara has extensive domestic and international experience in supply chain and logistics management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Management from the University of Phoenix where he graduated with Honors.

 

Brian Fox – Technologist (co-founder) - Mr. Fox brings over 20 years of technology and business experience to RIS. In the early 1980's he authored several widely used software programs, including Terrapin Logo and Delta Drawing. As employee #1 of the Free Software Foundation, he authored the bash Linux shell, which appears on millions of computers worldwide. After authoring Wells Fargo's online banking in the spring of 1995, he served as CTO for a variety of technology startups. At RIS, his responsibilities include the design and implementation of the company's software infrastructure, software for the company's products and acts as the principal technology advisor.

 

Cecilia Gonzales- Strategy Consultant (co-founder) - Ms. Gonzales was the COO of RIS from its inception through early 2008, leading RIS efforts in product definition, channel development, corporate strategy, and eventually in-store operations during the initial installations. In many areas, Ms. Gonzales laid the foundation that Retail Inkjet Solutions is working from today. Ms. Gonzales has a proven ability to bring together strategy, technology, operations and teams to launch new ventures and transform organizations. Prior to RIS, Ms. Gonzales served in COO and other executive positions in Spain and Portugal, launching multi-million start-ups in retail system integration and fixed-line telecommunications. She also has over 5 years experience in manufacturing operations management with Hewlett-Packard. Ms. Gonzales holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a bachelor of Science, Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.
